Live is good in the new real!

is the motto of the SONIC TERRITORIES Festival 2025 – an artistic space for reflection on the tension between body, technology, and nature.
Instead of celebrating AI, the participating artists explore the digital as a fragile terrain – through sound, performance, and speculative acoustics between organic reality and synthetic fiction. From field recordings to electromagnetic noise, the result is a festival of friction, not escape.

Artists such as Nyokabi Kariũki (KE, pictured above), Fennesz (AT), Merche Blasco (ES/US), Ute Wassermann (DE), Jakob Schauer (AT), Sara Persico & Mika Oki (IT/FR), and Raphael Rogiński (PL) present works that don’t perfect digital tools, but rather unsettle them – with handcrafted instruments, electromagnetic sensors, field recordings, organ, voice, and speculative acoustics.

The club nights also reflect this spirit: with LOUFR, PÖ, Fæ Bestia, Misonica, and Natasha Moreno, hyperpop, noise techno, and modular systems meet radical narrative power.
All of Vienna as a field of experimentation – from the periphery to the center. Technology becomes noise. Sound addresses the question: How do we want to hear?

End of the Resilience

Jakob Schauer’s End of Resilience explores the breaking point of emotional resilience – that moment when overexertion is no longer suppressed and unexpected liberation arises.
At the festival opening on October 17th in the Church of the Redeemer, Schauer will present works for organ and electronics, a composition with fixed media, and a piece for organ and four waveform generators. An intense evening between drones, spheres, and silent catharsis.
