The result is a raw\, dynamic exploration of sound —where intricate rhythmic play dances with shifting notions of time and space and melodies drift between tenderness and defiance\, reappearing in subtle variations – blurring the line between chaos and coherence with effortless fluidity. Phenomenal World delivers a visceral sonic journey—where punk energy collides with the depth and unpredictability of free improvisation. \nMichael Fischer arbeitet an der Sprachimmanenz von Klängen und ihrer skulpturalen und dramatischen Evidenz im Bereich der radikal frei improvisierten / experimentellen Musik. 1999 begann er\, das akustische Phänomen Feedback in seine Arbeit zu integrieren und entwickelte ein ausschließlich analoges\, effektfreies Instrument\, das Feedback-Saxophon\, das am ZKM – Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe oder STEIM Amsterdam weiterentwickelt wurde. Er ist Gründer zahlreicher Ensembles\, u.a. der langjährigen Projekte BAGG*FISH und M. A. D.; 2004 lancierte er das Vienna Improvisers Orchestra\, das u.a. beim Moers-Festival (D)\, Wien Modern oder der Vienna Art Week aufgetreten ist. Als instant composition conductor arbeitet er mit zahlreichen Improvisationsorchestern und temporären Großensembles für internationale Festivals\, Universitäten u. a. Institutionen. Seit Mitte der 90er Jahre Kooperationen in der internationalen Szene für Frei Improvisierte Musik und mit Schriftsteller:innen experimenteller Poesie; Tourneen und Festivalpräsenz in Europa\, Kanada\, USA und Japan. Zuletzt performative Lichtinstallationen NEON (für z.B. Donaufestival Krems\, Künstlerhaus Wien) oder ColorRaySaxophone (V.esch). Guest-lecturer an z.B. Peabody Institute – The Johns Hopkins University/USA\, University of California Irvine\, Newcastle University/UK\, Music Academy – University of Montenegro\, Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts Brno\, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien\, die Angewandte Wien u.a.. \nDieter Kern ist nicht nur als präziser und vielseitiger Schlagzeuger der österreichischen Bands Bulbul und Fuckhead bekannt\, sondern hat sich auch einen Ruf in der improvisierten und freien Jazzszene erspielt\, indem er mit so namhaften Künstlern wie Satoko Fujii\, Linda Sharrock\, Saadet Türköz\, Marshall Allen\, Joe McPhee\, Ken Vandermark und Mayo Thompson zusammengearbeitet hat. Inzwischen gilt er als einer der geschäftigsten Schlagzeuger der Wiener Szene. Didi hat sich als ein einfallsreicher\, energischer Improvisator mit einem ausgeprägten Sinn für Humor etabliert. Es erkundet die verschiedenen Lebensphasen des mythischen Vogels Phoenix – von der Geburt über die Entfaltung bis zur Verbrennung und Wiedergeburt. Im Zentrum steht die Uraufführung „Lebenszyklen – Zeit der Phönixe“ von Mathias Johannes Schmidhammer für Flöte\, Violoncello und Klavier. Jede Musikerin verfolgt eine eigenständige Stimme; nur zu festgelegten Zeitpunkten interagieren die drei jeweils anhand des musikalischen Materials\, das sie in genau diesem Moment gerade spielen. Eine Analogie für das menschliche Beisammensein\, weil wir ja in jede Interaktion unser eigenes „Tonmaterial“ mitbringen\, das unsere Mitmenschen erst in der Interaktion mit uns entdecken. Erweitert wird dieser Gedanke noch mit der Frage\, was wäre\, wenn dieses Aufeinandertreffen mehreren Phönixen passiert\, die ihr gesamtes Leben immer wieder zyklisch durchleben. Nach dem gemeinsamen Kern durchläuft jede Stimme ihren eigenen Zyklus. Räumlich verteilt spielen die Musikerinnen solistisch Werke von Kaija Saariaho und Rebecca Saunders sowie eine Uraufführung von Tobias Weiß. Am Ende finden sie wieder zusammen – und lassen aus der Asche\, aus Cendres von Kaija Saariaho\, Neues entstehen. \nMiho Sakuma wurde in Tokio (Japan) geboren. Sie begann im Alter von 3 Jahren mit dem Klavierspiel und erhielt ab ihrem 9. Lebensjahr Flötenunterricht. Ihre Ausbildung als Querflötistin absolvierte sie an der KCM in Tokio bei Taro Otomo\, an der MUK Wien bei Rudolf Gindlhumer sowie an der MDW Wien im Masterstudium Neue Musik-Ensemble bei\nEva Furrer. Seit 2025 studiert sie im PPCM an der KUG Graz bei Vera Fischer. Sie ist Preisträgerin zahlreicher Wettbewerbe\, unter anderem 2. Preis des XIV. Internationalen Wettbewerbs Giovani Musicisti – Città di Treviso\, 4.Preis der Asia Flute Competition Kobe sowie Finalistin der Osaka International Music Competition. Seit 2012 wird sie außerdem jährlich vom Musikdirektor Baldwin Sulzer zum Japan Mozart Music Festival eingeladen. Darüber hinaus pflegt sie enge Zusammenarbeit mit zeitgenössischen Komponistinnen und Komponisten und wirkte bei zahlreichen Uraufführungen neuer Werke mit. \nAnna Aigner erhielt ihren ersten Instrumentalunterricht im Alter von fünf Jahren an der OÖ-LMS und schloss 2024 das Instrumentalstudium an der mdw Wien bei Peter Somodari mit Auszeichnung ab. Parallel zu ihrem Studium in Wien war sie 2023/24 im „postgradual“ Lehrgang an der Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt bei Romain Garioud eingeschrieben. Anna Aigner interessiert sich besonders für zeitgenössische Kompositionen und nahm 2020 an den Internationalen Ferienkursen für Neue Musik in Darmstadt teil. Sie spielt in zahlreichen Kammermusikformationen\, wie dem „Duo Veris“\, im Kammerorchester „Klangkollektiv Wien“\, bei den „Divinerinnen“ und bei „Sigrid Horn und das Nest“. Derzeit hat sie einen Zeitvertrag bei den Vereinigten Bühnen Wien. Neben ihrer Bühnenpräsenz hat Anna Aigner auch an mehreren CD-Veröffentlichungen mitgewirkt\, darunter Aufnahmen mit dem „Klangkollektiv Wien“\, dem Ensemble „Divinerinnen“ sowie mit der österreichischen Sängerin Sigrid Horn. www.annaaigner.at \nErika Spring\, geboren 1997 in Scheibbs\, ist Pianistin\, Kammermusikerin und Klavierpädagogin. Schon in frühester Kindheit entdeckte sie das Klavier für sich und erhielt mit sieben Jahren ihren ersten Klavierunterricht. Nach dem Musikgymnasium Linz setzte sie ihre Ausbildung an der mdw Wien fort. Dort studierte sie Instrumental- und Gesangspädagogik Klavier und schloss das Bachelorstudium bei Christiane Karajev sowie das Masterstudium bei Amandine Savary und Johannes Marian mit Auszeichnung ab. Für ihre hervorragenden Leistungen im Studium erhält sie den Würdigungspreis 2025 der mdw. Zudem wurde sie für die Übe-App Practice Room mit dem AVISO-Publikationspreis ausgezeichnet. Derzeit absolviert sie das Masterstudium Kammermusik bei Christoph Eggner an der mdw. DESCRIPTION:Anlässlich ihres Abschiedskonzerts in ihrer Heimat Philadelphia\, USA wurde Tracy Lisk für die “herausfordernde\, evokative Präsenz ihres warmen Tons und freien Spiels” gelobt. Seit etwas über einem halben Jahr lebt die Schlagzeugerin und Perrkussionstin in Portugal. Jetzt kommt sie mit zwei kroatischen Spielgefährten nach Graz: dem in Ljubljana lebenden Bassisten Boris Janje und den Saxofonisten Capri Kafka. Alle drei ziehen ihre Inspiration aus genreübergreifende Kooperationen und weisen ein großes Vokabular an Standard- und erweiterten Spieltechniken auf.\nTracy Lisk is a percussionist from Philadelphia and currently based in Portugal. Ms. Lisk’s history as a painter informs the substance of her improvisations which contain references to rhythmic structures while maintaining a fluid\, suspended continuity. She has lead percussion ensembles and regularly tours as a drummer in the US and Europe. She is the recipient of several grants for music from the NYC-based Foundation for Contemporary Arts. \nBoris Janje has been researching\, performing\, composing and expanding the sonic and musical possibilities of his instrument\, building individualised musical vocabulary with the use of standard and extended playing techniques mainly in the field of non-idiomatic improvisation. He is drawn to the idea of erasing borders between genres and styles and leaving aside structures and forms. \nCapri Kafka has collaborated with numerous local and foreign musicians\, dancers\, poets and other artists. He has been active on the free improvised and experimental music scene and composes music for animated films and theatre performances. He was a participant in the Amsterdam experimental music scene and performed in the series Kraak geluiden. Currently\, Kafka performs in various international ad hoc line-ups in clubs and festivals in Europe and the US. He is the principal organiser of the International Impromonday Festival in Zagreb.

Besides being passionate about field recordings\, his interest lies in the creation of soundscapes with modular synth and effects. \nIn addition to his solo work he is a regular member of ASTRO BLACK (/w Michael Masen)\, the MRM Trio (/w Marina Džukljev & Miodrag Gladović)\, MULM (/w Sara Zlanabitnik & Stephan Roiss) and Regolith (/w Christian Zollner). \nIn 2019 he started the Bordone Ensemble\, an improvisation group of musicians and artists with varying line-up\, who focus on drone\, noise and ambient music. Through close attunement and alignment of the instruments\, the group has developed a new Just Intonation mode whose resonant relations delimit a shared harmonic field\, guiding an exploration that extends from pitch into the spectrum and beyond it\, through noise\, decay\, and silence. Drawing on both contemporary free improvisation and traditional modal approaches\, the trio treats harmonic relations and timbral complexity with the same meditative focus. What emerges is music of ritual austerity and melodic lyricism. In 2025\, the trio released their debut album\, ‘For Violin\, Snare & Kacapi’\, on the kuyin label. \nMaya Bennardo is a performer and composer living in Stockholm\, Sweden. She is a founding member of the violin/viola duo andPlay\, described by I Care If You Listen as “enthusiastic champions for new music and collaboration”. She performs new and traditional repertoire for violin and piano with pianist Karl Larson in their Bennardo-Larson Duo and has previously been a member of the internationally renowned Mivos Quartet. She works closely with improvisers\, Etienne Nillesen\, Lisa Ullén\, Erik Blennow-Calälv\, and Kristofer Svensson where she explores subtle noise shifts\, Justly tuned harmonies\, and the close timbral relationships between instruments. \nEtienne Nillesen is a snare drum player who pushes the boundaries of the instrument’s tonal and harmonic possibilities through innovative techniques and a meticulous approach to sound. By employing circular motions and precise control of contact points\, he draws out an extensive range of pitches\, harmonics\, and overtones from the drumhead. His work reimagines the snare drum as a complete sonic entity\, transforming it from a percussive instrument into a rich source of melodic and harmonic material. His interest in diverse forms of music and art has given him the opportunity to work alongside artists and composers such as Nate Wooley\, Axel Dörner\, Christian Wolff\, Ingar Zach\, Sarah Davachi\, Michael Thieke\, Marta Warelis\, Magda Mayas and Sofia Jernberg. \nKristofer Svensson is a kacapi musician and composer from Sweden. The role of space in music and the creation of temporary spaces through music is the central element and goal. For her\, early and contemporary music are mutually dependent as they cannot exist without each others references. He graduated under Hans Schabus at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. His work has been shown in institutions and independent spaces such as Salzburger Kunstverein\, Neuer Kunstverein Wien\, Gallery Wonnerthdejaco\, Kunsthalle Exnergasse\, PARALLEL Vienna and Haus Wien. Recent projects include Insides of a Practice at Laurenz Space (Vienna) and ANTON at Plateau Vienna. He is a founding member of the artist collective Garage Show This artistic practice explores the intersection of self-produced systems and industrially standardized objects. Drawing on processes of mass production\, Bartholomaeus Wächter creates unique sculptural forms that resemble functional\, elements like architectural fragments\, but resist utility. These objects operate as regulatory tools: they demarcate space\, direct movement\, and subtly choreograph bodily interaction. Through materials and methods rooted in “tooling” and control logic\, his work reflects on the fragile promise of structure and the social infrastructures embedded in technologies of organization. DESCRIPTION:Elisabeth Flunger (Perkussion) / Edgar Friedl (Plattenspieler) / Chris Janka (E-Gitarre) \nbimm (auch bekannt als BAMM) ist ein experimentelles Trio aus E-Gitarre\, Plattenspieler und Schrottschlagzeug. Es siedelt im Freiland zwischen Schrottplatz und Strandbar und reicht seinem Publikum Erfrischungen in Form von skurrilen Klängen. \nRichtung Strandbar sitzt Chris\, der sich mit der E-Gitarre nicht nur dem Experiment\, sondern auch den Melodien und Harmonien des Wohlklangs und der Heiterkeit widmet. Elisabeth schielt mit ihrer Percussion in Richtung Schrottplatz und bringt die Liebe zum Zufall und den brachialen Umgang mit losen Metall- und Musikteilen ins Spiel. Sie zeigen\, was man alles zu dieser Musik träumen kann\, abstrakt\, symbolisch\, real oder mit Trick. Und dass das\, was hektisch und chaotisch klingt\, auch Ruhe und Gelassenheit erzeugen kann. Zu sehen gibt es Musikvideos von Angela Christlieb\, Jack Hauser\, Sabine Marte\, Rudolf Müller und Doris Schmid\, zu hören gibt es zwischendurch bimm (oder auch BAMM) live ohne Video.\n \nDa die Musiker:innen von BAMM / bimm auch abseits der Livemusik künstlerisch tätig sind\, wird es im Beiprogramm ein paar Nebenattraktionen geben: Chris‘ mikrotonaler Luster wird ab Anfang Jänner im Echoraum hängen\, Elisabeth baut eine Miniversion ihrer Murmelbahn auf und Edgar bringt ein paar Ergebnisse seiner künstlerischen Produktion mit. \nElisabeth Flunger ist Schlagzeugerin\, Komponistin\, Performerin und Klangkünstlerin. Sie spielt improvisierte und komponierte neue Musik\, arbeitet in Theater- und Tanzproduktionen\, hält Improvisations- und Kompositionsworkshops für Kinder und Erwachsene und konzipiert orts- und themenspezifische Installationen und Performances.
