SUMMARY:TAU: Bertoncini / Sheridan / Wassermann Konzertreihe »Improvisation International«
DESCRIPTION:Tiziana Bertoncini | Geige\nAngelika Sheridan | Flöte\nUte Wassermann | Stimme\n\nTAU is the new trio of three internationally renowned musicians specializing in improvisational and experimental music. Their music forms a polyphonic\, organic body of sound – pervaded by energetic tensions\, ruptures\, and unexpected depths. This creates an acoustic space of heightened alertness and resonance. \nTiziana Bertoncini works between contemporary composition\, improvisation\, and electroacoustic music. Her training as a violinist and visual artist also influences her interdisciplinary work – from spatial sound installations to musical theater. She is a member of Ensemble]h[iatus and has performed at ZKM\, WDR3\, and Horizons Sancy\, among others. \nAngelika Sheridan defines the sound of the flute beyond classical conventions through contemporary and original playing techniques. She is active in new and improvised music – with Ensemble]h[iatus\, Multiple Joyce Orchestra\, and the collective impakt\, among others. She teaches at the Cologne University of Music and Performing Arts. \nUte Wassermann is a vocal artist\, composer\, and performer. Her voice oscillates between electronic\, creature\, and sound sculpture—enhanced by objects\, whistles\, and acoustic costumes. She composes for international festivals and ensembles\, including MaerzMusik\, Transart\, and Musik der Jahrhunderte.

SUMMARY:Flowers we are
DESCRIPTION:Flowers we are consists of the versatile\, Serbian-based exceptional pianist Marina Džukljev\, the sound architect Matija Schellander on bass and electronics and the cello extremist noid /aka Arnold Haberl. The three musicians move with equal ease\, playfulness and elegance from minimal electronic sounds to melodic fragments to orchestral fullness. The trio convinces with the wide spectrum of its musical languages. Marina Džukljev is a pianist and educator renowned for her dynamic performances in free improvisation\, classical\, contemporary\, and applied music. With numerous awards to her name\, Marina has passionately explored contemporary and free improvised music\, collaborating with a diverse array of global artists and ensembles. Her innovative approach and dedication to exploring new sonoric possibilities of piano playing are evident in her wide-ranging performances across prestigious festivals and venues worldwide. Matija Schellander is a composer\, double bassist\, and electronic musician. He works with experimental music\, improvisation\, and electro-acoustic sound\, focusing on the interaction between sound and space. His projects range from solo performances and ensemble compositions\, music for theater and radio. Through cello\, electronics\, studio manipulation and more\, Arnold Haberl aka noid produces music of intrigue and beauty\, that interrogates our own sonic perception whilst retaining an almost violent intensity. His work on the cello draws forth sounds that are far from typical\, sometimes evoking the shifting and shimmering soundscapes of granular synthesis. \n„These nuanced and captivating journeys rely on the rich vocabularies of these idiosyncratic improvisers\, their deep listening dynamics\, an orchestral vision that denies any distinction between sound art and music\, and their irreverent but surprisingly elegant sensibility of form and structure.“\n(Percorsi Musicali\, December 20204) \n„The album’s strength lies in its refusal to be pinned down. It drifts effortlessly between minimal electronic experimentation\, free improvisation\, and moments of lush\, orchestral grandeur. If you squint\, you might catch a glimpse of Morton Feldman’s meditative patience\, but blink\, and you’re in a sonic realm closer to Fennesz’s shimmering noise-scapes or the visceral immediacy of an AMM improvisation.\nFor fans of boundary-pushing sound art\, „Flowers We Are“ is a triumph – a testament to the power of collaboration\, the beauty of imperfection\, and the endless possibilities of sound. It’s a bouquet of sonic blooms that may bewilder at first but ultimately rewards those who linger to savor its intricate details.”\nhttps://www.chaindlk.com/reviews/12550 \n„There is very quiet\, intense yet quiet interaction for minutes on end\, reminding me of some of AMMs work\, but with more electronic means. These draw the piece into a more electro-acoustic improvisation\, with touches of real instruments. (…) Great stuff.“\n(Vital Weekly\, January 2025)

SUMMARY:silent green Open Lab #3: megouem + Dara Shikoh + Kkoki
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be able to establish silent green Open Lab\, a new format for young Berlin musicians taking their first steps on stage – beyond the pressure of expectations or market-oriented presentation. \nSupporting young talent and revealing artistic processes is a major concern for us at silent green – and this is precisely what Open Lab is all about. It is deliberately conceived not as a mere showcase\, but as a space of opportunity: for entering the public sphere\, for encounters\, for resonance\, and for further development. \nBoth solo acts and ensembles/bands from Berlin were eligible to apply. Their approaches demonstrate not only individual artistic expression but also a desire to explore and transcend genre boundaries – between electronic music\, improvisational practice\, pop\, spoken word\, or performance. \nmegouem\nmegouem sings\, reads\, writes\, and performs. The poems\, pieces\, and songs\, set to music in melodies and chants\, are impulses\, observations\, and reflections given form. Occasionally\, illuminating insights also flow into the musical representations. Inspired by her grandmother’s spiritual legacy\, the preservation\, transmission\, and communication of knowledge are the focus of megouem’s artistic practice. At the silent green Open Lab\, megouem presents various fragments that lie somewhere between vocal performance and musical theater\, merging them into a harmonious concert piece. \nDara Shikoh\nDara Shikoh is a Berlin-based Sindhi interdisciplinary artist whose music exists on the threshold between language and emotion. For him\, sound is a vessel for feelings that have not yet been put into words—raw\, intuitive\, and sacred. His creative journey is an attempt to dwell in this very space and make it audible. \nBy fusing field recordings from places he calls home with electroacoustic sound textures and intimate vocal passages\, Dara Shikoh creates immersive sound worlds that reflect memory\, migration\, and inner states. \nKkoki\nKkoki is a Korean musician currently active in Berlin. Her songs are influenced by her long-standing engagement with pop and pop culture\, particularly through influences from films and television shows. \nShe spends most of her time writing and recording songs\, collaborating with artists such as Emil Gabriel\, COBEE\, Kev Koko\, Mathis Ruffing\, Valentin Hansen\, and others. Her debut single was released in August 2025\, and further releases are planned.

SUMMARY:Phenomenal World Fischer\, Quehenberger\, Kern
DESCRIPTION:There’s a new band in Vienna\, and it’s called Phenomenal World!\nAfter years of crossing paths in the experimental music scene\, Michael Fischer (vocals and horns)\, Didi Kern (drums)\, and Philipp Quehenberger (keyboards) have finally come together to record their first album. The result is a raw\, dynamic exploration of sounds\, where intricate rhythmic interplay dances with shifting notions of time and space\, and melodies drift between tenderness and defiance\, resurfacing in subtle variations and blurring the line between chaos and coherence with effortless fluidity. \nPhenomenal World delivers a visceral sonic journey where the energy of punk collides with the depth and unpredictability of free improvisation. \nPhilipp Quehenberger and Didi Kern previously performed at the MPS studio in 2024. Read more about these two gentlemen on our website here. \nMichael Fischer is a musician\, composer\, and conductor for Instant Composition. He works in the field of radically free improvised and experimental music with a focus on sonic expressiveness. Since 1999\, he has integrated acoustic feedback into his work and developed the analog “feedback saxophone.” He has founded numerous ensembles\, including the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra\, and performed at renowned festivals worldwide. Fischer is also active in performative light installations and teaches at universities internationally.

SUMMARY:Sara Käser & Natalie Peters
DESCRIPTION:Sara Käser and Natalie Peters play their music uncompromisingly\, unconventionally\, and uniquely. They improvise and\, through their spontaneous expression\, create a flow between conscious and unconscious realities. Between dream and heightened alertness\, they resonate with their immediate conditions and surroundings while also creating contrasts that highlight their clear positions and artistic solutions. \n\nTheir musical language initially seems closely tied to their personalities\, yet it dissolves in the interplay of influences and aesthetic visions\, releasing entirely new dynamics. Their sound textures are wild and fragile\, simple and complex at the same time\, always permeated by an inner breath that carries and evolves the ephemeral nature of their music. It is a search for the wondrous\, a sense of wonder that turns every moment into an intense experience while simultaneously encouraging the listener to let go of what has just been experienced. \n— \nSara Käser: is a freelance cellist and music educator based in Wiesenberg\, Nidwalden. She specializes in contemporary and experimental music\, both as an improviser and interpreter. Throughout her care\, she has collaborated with various artists\, ensembles\, and bands\, including Stimmenfeuer\, Ensemble der Dinge (theater)\, Natalie Peters (voice duo)\, Ensemble Nachhall and Ensemble Sargo. Käser completed her Master degree at Arts in Music at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts including attendance at the Darmstädter Ferienkurs für Neue Musik und Donaueschingen Musiktage. In collaboration with author Noëmi Lerch\, Käser formed the duo Käser & Lerch\, which was honored as Pro Argovia Artists. Their performances intertwine music and text\, exploring themes of traditional craftsmanship\, passion\, and love. Käser’s artistic journey is marked by her exploration of the cello’s expressive possibilities\, her interest in the healing and transformative power of music\, and her commitment to blending genres and crossing artistic boundaries. Link >> www.saracello.ch \nNatalie Peters: is an improvised music vocalist\, performer and curator who explores the human voice in its simplest and most extravagant forms of expression. The spontaneous\, unpredictable and playful nature of improvised music allows her to find a vivid artistic expression that brings to consciousness the surreal\, intangible side of human existence. In her music\, she seeks presence and a natural communication that allows for unconventional and surprising possibilities and explores boundaries. Listening to a human voice inevitably brings us into contact with it and allows us to reason within our own bodies\, because every muscle has a memory of its biological function. Natalie tries to merge music and life into a story that is not there to be decoded\, but to address deeper human mysteries. In her solo concerts\, she creates a presence that plays with temporal notions through direct resonance with her environment\, audience and herself. For her\, remembering\, forgetting\, visions and conditions are states that she carefully touches and reintegrates into consciousness through the unusual but precise use of her voice. Her current projects are the duo Sara Käser / Natalie Peters\, the duo Sebi Tramontana/ Natalie Peters\, the quartet SYNC and the ensemble Sous-Sol\, which she leads in Locarno. She has performed at festivals such as Archipel Festival Genève\, La Fête a Bruit\, Biel\, Performance Festival Oerlikon\, Zurich\, Filmpodium Zurich\, BangBang Social Elegance\, Museum Tinguelly Basel\, etc. She works continuously in various projects with artists and collectives such as Sebastian Strinning\, Sofia Borges\, Klaus Janek\, Jacek Chmiel\, Yara Li Mennel\, Sebi Tramontana\, Sara Käser\, Thomas Rohrer\, Marina Tantanozi\, Alfred Zimmerlin\, Heike Fiedler\, Amin Alavi\, Caroline Tallone\, PANCH\, Collettivo Conserere\, Casa Stanata and others. As a curator\, she organises the music series ‘Frequenze Libere’ in Locarno. She is the initiator of the cultural association and artist network Carovana091. Link >> www.nataliepeters.ch

SUMMARY:Alan Licht pres. Havens + Abigail Toll
DESCRIPTION:Over the past two decades\, guitarist Alan Licht has collaborated with a veritable who’s who of the experimental world. Now he returns with Havens\, a sprawling double album of guitar-based compositions forged from the myriad possibilities that arise when strings collide with electricity and space. His work is characterized by contrasts and contradictions: maximalism versus minimalism; rockist leanings versus avant-garde\, field-expanded expression; loose improvisation versus considered performance. // Abigail Toll creates a blend of abstract minimalism\, thoughtful drone\, and droning electronics. In her live shows\, psychoacoustics and noise merge with the trance-like atmosphere of ancient spaces.

SUMMARY:movement - voice workshop
DESCRIPTION:Workshop  ŽANETA VÍTOVÁ ] MICHAELA ONDRAŠINOVÁ\nDANCE HALL 3 floor \nWhat does your exhalation sound like? Where in your body does your voice resonate? What do you hear when you walk and the environment around you changes? What does your movement sound like\, what is the rhythm in it? Come with us to explore\, discover and create space for your voice\, body and dance and through them for your self-expression.\nThe workshop is created in collaboration with two lecturers – one with a background in music\, the other with a background in dance. Although they come from different disciplines\, both are interested in the connection between voice\, body and movement.\nThe workshop will be a combination of movement parts\, focused on relaxation\, immersion in the body and making the body more accessible\, which helps to better use the voice\, and parts focused on working with the voice and vocal technique. Voice and movement are two interconnected vessels and we will explore them as such.\nThose who are more confident in their movement expression can open the way to their voice through working with the body and dance. Those who have more experience with vocal expression can open the way to greater use of the body and self-expression through movement and explore how movement work helps them with the use of their voice.\nWe will work with experiential anatomy\, movement\, breath\, rhythm\, voice\, we will also learn a simple song together\, we will improvise vocally and with movement. All without demands for performance or result\, in a relaxed atmosphere.\nThe workshop is intended for everyone who is interested in movement and/or voice and the connection of movement and voice work\, regardless of their level of advancement. Both “movement workers” (dancers\, performers and performers)\, as well as musicians or actors and actresses are welcome. And also everyone else with a desire to explore the topics of this workshop.\nWHEN: Saturday\, October 4\, 2025\, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. (includes an hour-long lunch break)\nWHERE: Radnická 8\, Brno\, dance hall (3rd floor)\nREGISTRATION: to register for the workshop (or if you have any questions)\, please email misharel@seznam.cz no later than September 18\, 2025.\nPRICE:\nsliding scale 1000–1600 CZK (choose the amount that suits your budget)\, after registration we will send you payment information. We will reserve your place only after the payment has been credited. \nWie klingt dein Ausatmen? SUMMARY:Phenomenal World – Fischer\, Quehenberger\, Kern
Starting on a foundation of field recordings\, their pieces are expressions of embodied connection to a location\, stratifying textures of site-specific channelled melody and movement in various instrumentations\, digital processing\, and rhythms made from environmental sounds. Their work addresses issues of dis/connection guided by the intention to develop and strengthen relationship to the emergent knowing alive in collaboration with The Unseen\, creating containers for presence both individually and collectively.

How instruments are tuned determines what kind of music can be heard and which instruments can play together. The dogma of tuning defines a tonal space that belongs to tradition and characterizes that which lies outside it.\nIn the fourth encounter of its trans-traditional music laboratory\, the Berlin Trickster Orchestra\, together with its guests\, focuses on the microtonal realm. The potential and possibilities this offers for trans-traditional practices\, whose goal is a music that values and acknowledges different traditions and simultaneously seeks a “third” that is neither one’s own nor foreign.\nThe Trickster Orchestra’s trans-traditional music laboratory is a public\, experimental\, and future-oriented working process\, which the audience is invited to experience live from the very beginning. Together with changing guests\, the Trickster Orchestra embarks on an artistic journey of discovery with an uncertain destination\, presenting the latest findings and musical experiments surrounding trans-traditional contemporary music practice in workshop concerts.

SUMMARY:Oberdorfer | Lepenik
DESCRIPTION:Release Party & Video Presentation: Oberdorfer/Lepenik: “Unstable Realism” / Bureau Le Fou\nThe starting point for Oberdorfer/Lepenik’s album “Unstable Realism” is the two musicians’ interest in sine tones\, which\, as overtone-free tones that do not occur naturally\, are particularly suitable for use in their soundscapes. They employ a variety of sound generators\, from historical analog laboratory oscillators to the Pure Data programming language. Videos were also produced for the five pieces\, which will be presented at the release party. \n“Unstable Realism” is the first of five releases on “Bureau Le Fou\,” the newly founded platform for experimental music.
