He is a Professor in the Department of Sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute (Ghent). An early adopter of microcomputers for live performance\, Collins also makes use of homemade electronic circuitry and conventional acoustic instruments. His book\, Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking (Routledge)\, now in its third edition\, has infuenced emerging electronic music worldwide. \nBirgit Ulher\nBirgit Ulher lives as a freelance musician\, sound artist and composer in Hamburg. After her studies in the field of visual\narts\, she developed her own playing techniques and preparations with trumpet\, radio\, loudspeakers and objects. Apart from this material research\, her special interest lays in the relationship between silence and sound. Her work includes acoustic and electroacoustic projects\, solo performances\, concert and sound installations\, videos\, concept pieces and concerts in the field of improvised / experimental music. She has received numerous grants and travels internationally with her concert activities. \nCarrasco & Vergara: Album Release Tour Secuelas \nThis duo is the result of a collaboration between the chilean musicians Benjamín Vergara and Edén Carrasco\, spanning more than 20 years. DESCRIPTION:La Cuerda y el Grito \nLa Cuerda y el Grito\, translated as “The String and the Scream”\, is a multidisciplinary performance that blends contemporary music\, free improvisation\, body\, and object. Yuko Cornale and Sofía Escamilla work from a place of depth and in the quest for the intangible – each from a different language: one using the voice as a portal\, the other through cello as an extension of the body. This duo is born from attentive listening and the willingness to inhabit the moment. While Yuko’s voice folds\, distorts\, and channels the intangible\, Sofía’s cello expands through digital processing and sound objects. \nA seismic encounter between two explorers of the deep who come together in a dialogue of sounds and emotions. Voice and cello merge and warp creating an intimate ritual where air becomes string\, and string becomes scream. Both artists were selected for the Ibermúsicas – Emilia Romagna call\, with tours in Mexico and Italy alongside the trio HackOut!. In 2025-2026 they develop The String and the Scream. \n\n \nYuko Cornale \nPerformer\, improviser\, composer\, and producer born in Bolivia and of Italian nationality. Based in Mexico City for over ten years\, her work focuses on vocal exploration and the use of extended techniques. Active in the experimental scene\, she performs in free improvisation concerts and collaborates with contemporary music ensembles. She teaches private voice lessons and leads the Vox Anima workshop\, which encourages vocal exploration and somatic knowledge of the voice. \nShe currently leads two main projects: Craniata\, an immersive performance combining digital art\, visual arts\, electronic music\, body\, and voice; and Ensamble Voraz\, a group dedicated to free improvisation with influences of black metal\, doom\, and noise rock. Her practice is driven by the exploration of the depths\, channeling the intangible. \nSofía Escamilla \nCellist\, composer\, and sound artist Mexican who moves between contemporary academic music\, free improvisation\, performance\, and electroacoustic music. Her approach to the instrument begins with the exploration of extended techniques with real-time digital processing\, layering voice and other sound objects. Her work also spans multidisciplinary collaborations in poetry\, dance\, theater\, and film. Notable collaborations include the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra 2023 as a composer selected for the Orchestral Techniques Workshop\, and with the UNAM Choreographic Workshop 2025 as a live cellist. She is currently a member and founder of the free jazz trio Segaki\, a member of Kóryma orchestra led by jazz pianist Ana Ruíz\, and cellist in trumpeter and jazz artist Jacob Wick’s ensemble\, with whom they recorded an album in 2025. \nErikM \nDisappearing Words takes as its starting point the list of terms banned by the Trump administration — science-based\, transgender\, diversity\, climate change… Entrusted to an AI-generated artificial voice\, these words appear as a fragile memory\, already under threat of erasure. Integrated into the Idiosyncrasie device\, built from real-time sound streams and reconfigured raw materials\, they enter a process of continuous transformation. Little by little\, the voice blurs\, dissolves\, merges with the streams\, and drifts toward entropy: a state where meaning fades\, where sonic matter decomposes into an unstable and unpredictable field. Entstanden ist sie 2012 aus einer Klangkunstausstellung des deutschen Musikrates. Kuratiert und organisiert vom Kulturverein On the Couch – zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur in der Gesellschaft. Bisher fanden über 100 Konzerte statt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf aktueller Neuer Musik.\nDie Idee entstand aus dem Bedürfnis heraus\, professionelles Musikschaffen in die Intimität eines Salons zu bringen. Dadurch bietet sich die Möglichkeit\, MusikerInnen und Publikum nah zusammenzuführen\, sich über das Gehörte und Erlebte auszutauschen. She holds a degree in Music from Javeriana University and a Master’s in Fine Arts and Electronic Arts from the University of Los Andes (Bogotá). She has performed across Colombia\, Europe\, Latin America\, and the United States\, and her work has been released on labels including Relative Pitch Records (US)\, Sonic Transmissions (NO)\, Música Corriente (CO)\, and Dur et Doux (FR). She is a member of Meridian Brothers\, one of Colombia’s most acclaimed and internationally renowned bands\, and alongside her solo projects she also plays in Hurakán Orkan\, Tarabita Espiral\, MULA\, Trío Lesión\, and Tortuga Alada. She is also a professor at Universidad del Rosario\, Bogotá. \nLeonel Kaplan\nA must-hear\, one-of-a-kind trumpeter. Born in Buenos Aires (1973) and now based in Belgrade\, Leonel Kaplan has been a singular voice in the international free improvisation scene since the early 2000s\, focused on extended techniques and the purest matters of sound. He is widely regarded as one of the most internationally projected Argentine improvisers\, and has toured and recorded worldwide alongside John Butcher\, Christof Kurzmann\, Axel Dörner\, Michel Doneda\, Klaus Filip\, Birgit Ulher\, Tetuzi Akiyama\, and Nate Wooley\, among many others. Beyond performing\, he has composed for dance\, theatre\, and light installations. His music has been released on labels such as Relative Pitch (US)\, ESP-Disk‘ (US)\, Another Timbre (UK)\, Dromos\, and Creative Sources. Critics have praised him as a dexterous and measured player\, as comfortable with silence as with sound\, whose mesmerizing approach pushes the trumpet far beyond its jazz traditions and places him at the forefront of the instrument’s contemporary language. \nHÜBSCH ABER VERSTRAHLT \nSilke Strahl und Carl Ludwig Hübsch begeben sich mit Saxophon\, Tuba und Stimme in die Wildnis der unerhörten\nTöne. Vor den Augen des Publikums entsteht Zartes\, Raues\, Filigranes und Brutales im Brennpunkt der Echtzeit.\nVertiefung\, Überraschung und einfach gute Musik schöpfen aus einem unbegrenzbarem Klangspektrum.\nStrahl und Hübsch verfeinern täglich ihr Werkzeug und ihre Klang-Paletten. Daher ist ihr Spiel ist ebenso persönlich wie\ngrundlegend offen für all das\, was da kommt und geht. \nGeboren 1988 in Bad Saulgau\, genoss Silke Strahl im Alter von 9 Jahren ihren ersten Musikunterricht. Das Studium der elementaren Musikpädagogik an der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Stuttgart begann sie 2008. Ab 2010 studierte sie zusätzlich klassisches Saxophon bei Nikola Lutz. Ein Erasmus Aufenthalt führte sie nach Luzern\, wo sie den Instrumental-Bachelor und das Masterstudium “Interpretation of contemporary music“ bei Sascha Armbruster und Beat Hofstetter abschloss. Silke ist in verschiedenen Ensembles tätig mit denen sie u.a. zeitgenössische Werke uraufführt oder interdisziplinäre Projekte verwirklicht. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit ist die freie Improvisation. Hier steht sie unter\nanderem mit Hans-Peter Pfammatter\, Christian Weber\, Kevin Sommer\, Raphael Loher\, Tizia Zimmermann oder Lucas Niggli auf der Bühne. Ausserdem ist sie als Aushilfe und Zuzügerin in verschiedenen Orchestern und Ensembles\, wie dem Sinfonieorchester Basel\, zu hören. Sie gewann 2019 mit ihrem Duo Klexs den zweiten Preis des renommierten\nWettbewerb Concours Nicati und 2016 den Edwin-Fischer- Anerkennungspreis\, sowie den Soundzz.z.zzz…z- Wettbewerb des Lucerne Festivals. Ausserdem engagiert sie sich aktiv für die Luzerner Kulturszene\, im Forum Neue Musik Luzern und dem Mullbau Luzern. \nCarl Ludwig Hübsch komponiert für kleine und grosse Besetzungen intuitiver oder Neuer Musik und ist als Tubist ein im In- und Ausland gefragter Improvisierer oder Interpret. Er studierte Komposition meist autodidaktisch\, jedoch auch z.B. als Gaststudent in der Kompositionsklasse von Johannes Fritsch in Köln. Hübsch komponiert für verschiedene Ensembles wie z.B. das Multiple Joy[ce] Orchestra in Köln\, seine eigenen Gruppen oder für Kompositionsaufträge. Sein kompositorisches Schaffen stellt den Interpreten als kreative Instanz im Umgang mit vorab komponierter Musik in den Mittelpunkt. Seit 1989 tritt Carl Ludwig Hübsch regelmäßig mit herausragenden bekannten und unbekannten Meistern seines Metiers zusammen auf. Hübsch hat drei Bücher mit Interviews mit Improvisierenden Musiker*innen veröffentlicht und veranstaltet die „Plattform Nicht Dokumentierbarer Ereignisse“ in Köln.

DESCRIPTION:On the Couch ist eine Studiokonzertreihe mit Hauskonzertcharakter\, die monatlich (außer im Sommer) an einem Donnerstagabend im Studio Eberhard\, in der Salesianergasse 10/1 um 20h stattfindet. Entstanden ist sie 2012 aus einer Klangkunstausstellung des deutschen Musikrates. Kuratiert und organisiert vom Kulturverein On the Couch – zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur in der Gesellschaft. Bisher fanden über 100 Konzerte statt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf aktueller Neuer Musik.\nDie Idee entstand aus dem Bedürfnis heraus\, professionelles Musikschaffen in die Intimität eines Salons zu bringen. Dadurch bietet sich die Möglichkeit\, MusikerInnen und Publikum nah zusammenzuführen\, sich über das Gehörte und Erlebte auszutauschen. Es geht um eine persönliche Gegenseitigkeit\, die im herkömmlichen Konzertbetrieb nicht vorkommt.
