DESCRIPTION:Park Jiha (KR) – DE/SEMBLE 2025Sunday\, October 12\, 2025 (Afternoon Concert) Reaktor (Geblergasse 40\, 1170)\nSouth Korean composer Park Jiha deftly balances heritage and improvisation\, disrupting traditional paradigms and breathing new life into ancient instruments. Moving beyond her formal training\, she reimagines the Yanggeum (a hammered dulcimer)\, Saenghwang (a free reed mouth organ)\, and Piri (a double-reed bamboo oboe) to create an innovative form of minimalism. Her era-ambiguous elegies fluctuate between deeply meditative and dramatically dynamic\, emerging as an ever-present prophecy of tomorrow.\nDebuting as a soloist with Communion in 2018\, Jiha refined her craft with Philos (2019) and The Gleam (2022). Vigorously exploring new creative pathways\, her voiceless soundscapes found discordant harmony in a wildcard collaboration with Scouse poet Roy Claire Potter\, recorded for BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction in 2022 and released by Café Oto’s Otoroku imprint. Das Quartett ist aus der Zusammenarbeit von Ensemble 5 und Christopher Dell entstanden\, welche auf dem Album „The Human Factor“ (Hat Hut) dokumentiert ist.Nach einer Tournee und Aufnahmen im Herbst 2024 ist die Band im Oktober 2025 wieder in Deutschland\, der Schweiz und Österreich unterwegs\, im Gepäck das neue Album “Beyond Scope” (Hat Hut). \nGiulio Stermieri – Farfisa organ\, toy piano\, sampler \nGiulio Stermieri is a pianist\, keyboard player\, and composer. His musical path merges his love for the African American piano tradition and improvisation with a focus on timbral exploration of piano and electronics. His work honors the present moment as the privileged dimension for an artist-listener communication. He also explores the way musical material affects form\, following the instant composing utopia. Fort Da\, Stermieri’s solo performance\, is rooted in these beliefs; the Farfisa organ and the sampler become a living machine\, together suggesting new creative trajectories. Fragmented melodies appear and disappear\, rising from the contemplation of simple sonic stratifications or sinking into polyrhythmic trance\, revealing a game in which we can experience the symbolic value of repetition.
