While Collins works with a computer program and cobbled hardware\, Ulher uses metal sheets\, radios\, milk frothers and other everyday objects. The diametrically opposed sound production leads to oddly similar sonic results.\nConcerts in Berlin\, at blurred edges festival in Hamburg\, Ensemblia Festival in Mönchengladbach\, Alternativa Festival in Prague\, Lampo in Chicago\, Planetario de Bogota\, Universidad de los Andes in Bogota and Museo Arte Moderno in Medellín. Their first release Spark Gap was just released on Relative Pitch Records. \nNicolas Collins\nNew York born and raised\, Nicolas Collins spent years in Europe\, where he was Artistic Director of STEIM (Amsterdam)\, and a DAAD composer-in-residence in Berlin. He is a Professor in the Department of Sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute (Ghent). An early adopter of microcomputers for live performance\, Collins also makes use of homemade electronic circuitry and conventional acoustic instruments. His book\, Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking (Routledge)\, now in its third edition\, has infuenced emerging electronic music worldwide. \nBirgit Ulher\nBirgit Ulher lives as a freelance musician\, sound artist and composer in Hamburg. After her studies in the field of visual\narts\, she developed her own playing techniques and preparations with trumpet\, radio\, loudspeakers and objects. Apart from this material research\, her special interest lays in the relationship between silence and sound. Her work includes acoustic and electroacoustic projects\, solo performances\, concert and sound installations\, videos\, concept pieces and concerts in the field of improvised / experimental music. She has received numerous grants and travels internationally with her concert activities. \nCarrasco & Vergara: Album Release Tour Secuelas \nThis duo is the result of a collaboration between the chilean musicians Benjamín Vergara and Edén Carrasco\, spanning more than 20 years. This partnership is reflected in practices in the context of experimental music\, noise\, minimalism\, free jazz\, site specific performance. The music of this project explores the limits of the timbres of these two acoustic air instruments\, trumpet & sax\, building zones with melodic lines camouflaged by textures\, a noisy touch of dron blues\, and a submarine version of cool jazz. (or write to office@smallforms.org) \nAxel Dörner & Seijiro Murayama \nSince the modern era\, the conventional concert format—performers facing an audience—has remained largely unchanged\, even in\nimprovisation. Sound-art practices\, by contrast\, often discard this setup and allow free movement in space.\nThese formats reveal a divide: improvised music embraces spontaneity yet remains tied to the framework of “music\,” and we can sense whether a sound leans toward the musical or the purely sonic.\nTo address this core issue of improvisation\, it is meaningful for us to adopt a more sound-art-oriented approach and use space dynamically\,\nmoving through it when needed. \nAxel Dörner is one of the most unique voices in free improvisation. He developed a completely different language for the trumpet in the late\n1990s. Most of the ensembles he is part of are characterized by a non-hierarchical collaboration of the musicians involved.\nSince 2000 extended concert tours on all five continents which led to a worldwide genre- comprehensive musical network with most distinguished musicians of our time (SWR Jazzprize 2006\, Jazzprize of the city of Berlin 2019). His discography consists at this time of more than 150 CDs / LPs. \nPercussionist-drummer Seijiro Murayama was born in 1957 in Nagasaki\, Japan. From 1982 to 1995\, he dedicated himself to improvisation by\nplaying in Keiji Haino’s band Fushitsusha\, then in K.K. Null’s noise/rock band A.N.P. (Absolut Null Punkt). \nA relocation to France in 1999 led to collaborations that extended to dance\, theatre\, and performance\, as well as ongoing partnerships with\nmusicians like Jean-Luc Guionnet\, Eric La Casa\, and Axel Dörner\, among many others.\nHis activities as an improviser-composer are based on the concept of interdisciplinarity. Today\, one of his main axes of work is to regularly\nconduct workshops on non-idiomatic improvisation. Guided by a fluid\, unbound sense of music and listening she explores sound as an ever unfolding\, organic matter. Her fascination with music is it’s capacity to be simultaneously a collective and radically intimate experience. There she sees the possibility to grow unexpected relationships and enter impossible places – utopias. Symbiosis — understood as both emergence and coexistence — lies at the core of her current compositional and collaborative work with choirs and ensembles. She interlaces diverse musical practices like improvisation and score\, modular and digital sound design\, live-processing\, experimental and extended instrumental\, vocal and recording techniques. DESCRIPTION:Things that have vanished may leave no trace in history\, yet they linger\, subtly\, within our senses. What disappears does not disappear completely — it merely changes form and remains within us. Through the language of live coding\, sofolofo eeks to summon these vanished things back through the act of listening. \nLuc Döbereiner is a composer\, musician and researcher whose work explores the fragility\, contingency and materiality of sound. Through his music\, he investigates the entanglement of social\, technological and compositional systems\, investigating processes of sonic becoming\, liminality and the relationality of sound. His work explores how meaning and identity are both dissolved and constituted in sound. \nTaking various forms\, including collaborative and solo performances\, fixed media works\, and written scores for choirs\, soloists\, and ensembles\, his music frequently incorporates adaptive generative processes and sound synthesis algorithms. Döbereiner views synthesis as a processual form of computational becoming\, where perceptual forms emerge from material encounters. Influenced by a wide range of genres\, including early experimental computer music\, medieval and renaissance polyphony\, noise\, improvisation\, and sound art\, his music is characterized by continuously evolving forms\, states of fragility\, noise\, and turbulence. \nOriginally from Berlin\, Luc Döbereiner has performed in experimental music venues across Europe. He has collaborated with ensembles such as LUX:NM\, Eklekto Percussion\, KNM\, Schallfeld\, AuditivVokal and Vertixe Sonora. He studied at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague and holds a PhD from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. Alongside his creative work\, he has taught at institutions including the Donaueschinger Musiktage\, the University of the Arts Berlin\, the Bern University of the Arts\, and the Free University of Berlin. Projekte mit Bill Laswell\, Eugene Chadbourne\, John Zorn\, Anthony Coleman\, Samm Bennett\, Mike Watt und David Linton folgten. Ihre Videos wurden auf über 200 Festivals weltweit gezeigt. Erhielt 2010 den Outstanding Artist Award des österreichischen Ministeriums für Kunst und Kultur. \nChristof Kurzmann ist ein österreichischer Musiker und Elektronikkünstler\, der in den 90er Jahren mit dem Duo Extended Versions bekannt wurde. Er gründete das Orchester 33 1/3 und das Label Charhizma. Kurzmann hat mit verschiedenen Künstlern aus den Bereichen Jazz\, Rock und Elektronik zusammengearbeitet und tritt in Gruppen wie The Magic I.D. und El Infierno Musical auf. Sein Interesse liegt in der elektronischen Improvisation. \nMark Molnar\, ein in Ottawa ansässiger Instrumentalist\, spielt Streichinstrumente und Elektronik. Er ist Gründer von Black Bough Records und war Mitbegründer des Pleasure Through Sound Festivals. Molnar komponierte Musik für Theaterproduktionen und Filme und spielt in der Gruppe Kingdom Shore. Seine Projekte wurden international aufgeführt und ausgestellt. \nSophie Trudeau: Kurz nach dem Abschluss ihrer klassischen Geigenausbildung schloss sich Sophie der genreübergreifenden Instrumental-Rockgruppe Godspeed You! Black Emperor an. Die mit dem Polaris Music Prize 2013 ausgezeichnete Gruppe ist international für die Intensität ihrer Live-Auftritte und die filmische Qualität ihrer Musik bekannt. In jüngster Zeit arbeitete sie mit der Choreografin Dana Gingras von Animals of Distinction und dem amerikanischen Filmemacher Jem Cohen zusammen.
