SUMMARY:Trans-traditionelles Encounter IV: Mikrotonalität
DESCRIPTION:Grégoire Simon | Viola\nTilmann Dehnhard | Flöten\nBassem Alkhouri | Kanun\, Stimme\nMohamad Fityan | Nay\, Kawala\nMatthew Bookert | Tuba\nHindol Deb | Sitar\nAzin Zahedi | Santoor\nCedric Fermont | Gast\nCatherine Lamb | Gast\nCymin Samawatie | Ko-Kreative\nKetan Bhatti | Ko-Kreativer\n\nQuestions of tonality and mood are central to all musical traditions. How instruments are tuned determines what kind of music can be heard and which instruments can play together. The dogma of tuning defines a tonal space that belongs to tradition and characterizes that which lies outside it.\nIn the fourth encounter of its trans-traditional music laboratory\, the Berlin Trickster Orchestra\, together with its guests\, focuses on the microtonal realm. The potential and possibilities this offers for trans-traditional practices\, whose goal is a music that values and acknowledges different traditions and simultaneously seeks a “third” that is neither one’s own nor foreign.\nThe Trickster Orchestra’s trans-traditional music laboratory is a public\, experimental\, and future-oriented working process\, which the audience is invited to experience live from the very beginning. Together with changing guests\, the Trickster Orchestra embarks on an artistic journey of discovery with an uncertain destination\, presenting the latest findings and musical experiments surrounding trans-traditional contemporary music practice in workshop concerts.

SUMMARY:Alan Licht pres. Havens + Abigail Toll
DESCRIPTION:Over the past two decades\, guitarist Alan Licht has collaborated with a veritable who’s who of the experimental world. Now he returns with Havens\, a sprawling double album of guitar-based compositions forged from the myriad possibilities that arise when strings collide with electricity and space. His work is characterized by contrasts and contradictions: maximalism versus minimalism; rockist leanings versus avant-garde\, field-expanded expression; loose improvisation versus considered performance. // Abigail Toll creates a blend of abstract minimalism\, thoughtful drone\, and droning electronics. In her live shows\, psychoacoustics and noise merge with the trance-like atmosphere of ancient spaces.

SUMMARY:silent green Open Lab #3: megouem + Dara Shikoh + Kkoki
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be able to establish silent green Open Lab\, a new format for young Berlin musicians taking their first steps on stage – beyond the pressure of expectations or market-oriented presentation. \nSupporting young talent and revealing artistic processes is a major concern for us at silent green – and this is precisely what Open Lab is all about. It is deliberately conceived not as a mere showcase\, but as a space of opportunity: for entering the public sphere\, for encounters\, for resonance\, and for further development. \nBoth solo acts and ensembles/bands from Berlin were eligible to apply. Their approaches demonstrate not only individual artistic expression but also a desire to explore and transcend genre boundaries – between electronic music\, improvisational practice\, pop\, spoken word\, or performance. \nmegouem\nmegouem sings\, reads\, writes\, and performs. The poems\, pieces\, and songs\, set to music in melodies and chants\, are impulses\, observations\, and reflections given form. Occasionally\, illuminating insights also flow into the musical representations. Inspired by her grandmother’s spiritual legacy\, the preservation\, transmission\, and communication of knowledge are the focus of megouem’s artistic practice. At the silent green Open Lab\, megouem presents various fragments that lie somewhere between vocal performance and musical theater\, merging them into a harmonious concert piece. \nDara Shikoh\nDara Shikoh is a Berlin-based Sindhi interdisciplinary artist whose music exists on the threshold between language and emotion. For him\, sound is a vessel for feelings that have not yet been put into words—raw\, intuitive\, and sacred. His creative journey is an attempt to dwell in this very space and make it audible. \nBy fusing field recordings from places he calls home with electroacoustic sound textures and intimate vocal passages\, Dara Shikoh creates immersive sound worlds that reflect memory\, migration\, and inner states. \nKkoki\nKkoki is a Korean musician currently active in Berlin. Her songs are influenced by her long-standing engagement with pop and pop culture\, particularly through influences from films and television shows. \nShe spends most of her time writing and recording songs\, collaborating with artists such as Emil Gabriel\, COBEE\, Kev Koko\, Mathis Ruffing\, Valentin Hansen\, and others. Her debut single was released in August 2025\, and further releases are planned.

SUMMARY:TAU: Bertoncini / Sheridan / Wassermann Konzertreihe »Improvisation International«
DESCRIPTION:Tiziana Bertoncini | Geige\nAngelika Sheridan | Flöte\nUte Wassermann | Stimme\n\nTAU is the new trio of three internationally renowned musicians specializing in improvisational and experimental music. Their music forms a polyphonic\, organic body of sound – pervaded by energetic tensions\, ruptures\, and unexpected depths. This creates an acoustic space of heightened alertness and resonance. \nTiziana Bertoncini works between contemporary composition\, improvisation\, and electroacoustic music. Her training as a violinist and visual artist also influences her interdisciplinary work – from spatial sound installations to musical theater. She is a member of Ensemble]h[iatus and has performed at ZKM\, WDR3\, and Horizons Sancy\, among others. \nAngelika Sheridan defines the sound of the flute beyond classical conventions through contemporary and original playing techniques. She is active in new and improvised music – with Ensemble]h[iatus\, Multiple Joyce Orchestra\, and the collective impakt\, among others. She teaches at the Cologne University of Music and Performing Arts. \nUte Wassermann is a vocal artist\, composer\, and performer. Her voice oscillates between electronic\, creature\, and sound sculpture—enhanced by objects\, whistles\, and acoustic costumes. She composes for international festivals and ensembles\, including MaerzMusik\, Transart\, and Musik der Jahrhunderte.

SUMMARY:Gorgone- Church Organ meets Electronics
DESCRIPTION:Andreas Voccia – SynthesizerCéline Voccia – Church Organ\nThe duo GORGONE\, composed of Andreas Voccia and Céline Voccia\, combines elements of historical and contemporary sound. Céline Voccia plays the church organ\, while Andreas Voccia uses a modular synthesiser to generate electronic sounds. In their abstract improvisations\, they merge the sound characteristics of both instruments\, resulting in music that is spontaneous\, detailed\, and texturally diverse. Their pieces are structurally complex and dynamic\, often departing from conventional rhythmic patterns. The result is a multi-layered auditory experience that encourages attentive listening and reflection.\nconcert 7pm sharpduration 60min\nKirche Zur frohen BotschaftWeseler Str. 6\, 10318 Berlin\nPart of the Month of Contemporary Music 2025

SUMMARY:Bogdan Raczynski
DESCRIPTION:Bogdan Raczynski is a groundbreaking electronic musician who has been pushing the boundaries of IDM\, jungle\, breakcore\, and braindance since the mid-1990s. He had his breakthrough in 1999 with the album “Boku Mo Wakaran”—a bold\, frenetic debut that cemented his place in the underground electronic music canon. Over the following years\, he released influential albums like “Samurai Math Beats” and “Thinking of You\, MyLoveILove\,” which combined chaotic breakbeats with playful melodies and quirky vocal samples. After a fifteen-year hiatus\, Raczynski returned in 2022 with his album “ADDLE” on Planet Mu. This album marked a stylistic shift\, moving away from breakbeat chaos towards more introspective\, ambient textures and emotional depth.
