SUMMARY:CoFestival\, the international festival of contemporary dance
DESCRIPTION:co-produced by Kino Šiška and Nomad Dance Academy\, returns with its 14th edition\, taking place from 21 to 28 November 2025 at Kino Šiška and other venues across Ljubljana. This year’s festival once again offers an outstanding international programme\, bringing together top-tier artists\, fresh choreographic approaches\, and a rich accompanying programme of talks\, workshops\, and social gatherings. \n\nThe title of Sonja Pregrad’s solo Object of Dance (2022) sets the tone for the artistic landscape addressed by the works of Berlin’s Dance On Ensemble under the joint name Making Dances. A short solo by Martha Graham\, Deep Song (1937)\, will be accompanied by an installation by director and performer Tim Etchells titled Everything/Nothing (2021)\, marking the first live presentation of Graham’s work in Slovenia. Dance On Ensemble also reconstructed Story (1963)\, Merce Cunningham’s legendary open work\, which prompted a choreographic response from French choreographer Mathilde Monnier\, titled Never Ending (Story) (2021). \nIn collaboration with the Forum for New Music\, the Old Power Station will host the premiere of Open Cage\, choreographed by Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik and Milan Tomášik\, featuring live performances of works from John Cage’s repertoire\, along with Rauch Podrzavnik’s own recent piece A Fold (2024). German choreographer Isabelle Schad returns with her latest piece Studies of Infinity #2 – Nudity and Landscape (2024)\, a sensitive closing to the Object of Dance section. \nFour contemporary expressions of subjectivity will unfold through four solo works: South African choreographer and dancer Tiran Willemse’s Blackmilk (2022)\, exploring the specific masculinities in South African pop culture; Batty Bwoy (2022)\, an anthological queer solo by rising European contemporary dance star Harald Baharie; and debut pieces by local dance artists Petja Golec Horvat (my own private\, Spring 2025) and Bor Prokofjev (Equilibrium\, 2024)\, the latter premiered at the Dance Theatre Ljubljana. \nThe programme also includes a presentation of choreographic artworks blending art and technology as part of the European project MODINA\, where dance artists collaborate with technologists and engineers to create choreo-digital situations\, accompanied by a dedicated conference strand. \nCo-produced by Kino Šiška and Nomad Dance Academy Slovenia\, the festival will also host talks\, workshops\, and social events that invite collective reflection on the programme. \nMark your calendars and stay tuned to the CoFestival channels — more programme details coming soon!

SUMMARY:XX Y X: Mysterious Signals
DESCRIPTION:Eine Live-Sound-Performance von Hui Ye und Ricarda Denzer \nIm Rahmen einer langfristigen Recherche zum Mantra – einer Anordnung stimmlicher Klangfolgen\, die die semantische Ebene überschreiten – setzt sich die Künstlerin Hui Ye mit unterschiedlichen spirituellen und esoterischen Ritualen auseinander und begegnet dabei Praktizierenden\, die die Stimme als ihr zentrales Arbeitsinstrument verwenden. In ihrer Live-Sound-Performance\, in der die Künstlerin Klangmaterial aus ihrem Forschungsarchiv mit verschiedenen Stimmen verwebt\, die verbale – oder vielmehr nonverbale – Informationen übermitteln\, versucht sie\, ein verborgenes Mantra freizulegen\, das eine fortwährende\, protektive Vibration trägt. \nO-Forschung ist Ricarda Denzers Annäherung an „O“. Wie ein unaufhörliches Hin und Her\, ein rätselhaftes Objekt „O“\, beschreibt Wilfrid Bion den Zugang zu „O“ als Resonanz\, nicht als kognitive Aneignung. „O“ bleibt immer dasselbe“ und verändert sich doch ständig. Para-Listening\, wie die Künstlerin ihren Hörprozess nennt\, ist eine Praxis\, in der das Horchen – auch als hörende Recherchemethode – „[…] eine Intensivierung und eine Sorge\, eine Neugier oder eine Beunruhigung ist“. Zuhören bedeutet hier „gespannt sein hin zu einem möglichen Sinn“\, es ist unvorstellbar\, chaotisch\, formlos und unendlich. \n  \nHui Ye (geboren in Guangzhou\, CN) ist eine Künstlerin und Komponistin mit Sitz in Wien. Sie arbeitet mit verschiedenen Medien\, darunter experimenteller Dokumentarfilm\, Video- und Audioinstallation\, und beschäftigt sich häufig mit den sozial-politischen Aspekten des Hörens sowie mit den sich ständig wandelnden Prozessen individueller sozialer Identität und deren Ausdruck in Technologie und Klangkultur. In ihren jüngsten Projekten steht die Stimme – sowohl die menschliche als auch die mehr-als-menschliche (more than human) – im Zentrum ihrer künstlerischen Forschung\, insbesondere in ihren digitalisierten Formen. Hui Ye ist Preisträgerin des Kunsthalle Wien Preises 2018 und Mitbegründerin von Mai Ling – einem queer-feministischen asiatischen Künstlerinnenkollektiv. Ihre Arbeiten wurden zuletzt in der Kunsthalle Wien\, der Secession Wien\, dem Belvedere 21 (AT)\, dem Jim Thompson Art Center (TH)\, der Lothringer 13 Halle (DE)\, der WRO Media Art Biennale (PL)\, dem Westbund Museum Shanghai und dem Times Museum Guangzhou (CN) gezeigt. http://yehui.org/ \nRicarda Denzer ist Künstlerin\, Lehrende und künstlerisch Forschende im Spannungsfeld zwischen postmedialer Bedingungen und Psychoanalyse. Auden in Kirchstetten (Edition NÖ); Perplexities (Revolver) und dem eJournal #13\, Un_University\, der ZHDK. Neben ihrer Ausstellungstätigkeit realisierte sie zahlreiche (ortsspezifische) Kunstprojekte.
