Tania Fuchs, also known under the alias Abu Gabi, lives in Vienna and is a composer, performer, and DJ. A progressive force operating between electroacoustic noise and radical bass music, Fuchs pricks the wounds of the so-called “avant-garde” as well as outdated pop and club clichés. Her pointedly raw live shows explore personal and sociopolitical texts in fragile to distorted vocal textures and drones, deconstructed beat socialization, and cathartically empowering improvisation. A similar approach is evident in Fuchs’ DJ sets: relentlessly captivating, it’s about collective intensity and nothing less than the final death of the genre concept.
