Brii Bauer aka Power has been busy organizing the Viennese underground scene for years. She has been curatiing various events, was a member of the live improvisations project Bird People, the techno live improvisations duo S.E.P. and founding part of the underground experimental punk band Ausländer.
She has worked as a music journalist for many years and co-worked on the publication round the viennese underground-scene “AUZine”.
She is founding member of the artist and DJ collectives Love Is Strange, Arsyugoslaviae, Pussy Trio or Fatalismus Spunk.
Since 2019, Power and tin.hoc have collaborated closely. Their shared approach is grounded in a process-oriented artistic practice, an interest in the unfinished, and a focus on fragmentation as a creative strategy. Both artists engage in methods of deconstruction, displacement, and recombination – Power in sound, tin.hoc in image.
In August 2021 Power and the american artist, componist and inventor of the accidental guitar, Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt founded the avant-garde experimental music duo Afghanistan Mon Amour. They communicate in a language of improvised sonic collages in a spiritual connection. The project has been releasing several albums, partizipating on many compilations and radio shows all over the world and performing in Vienna, Berlin or Graz. AMA collaborated with tin.hoc on many performances and among others with Käthe Kruse (Die Tödliche Doris).
They released in June 2025 their new album “Ein Tropfen Zeit” on Bandcamp.
For some time Power has been working on a CutUpLoops series. Brion Gysin discovered the cutting technique by chance in 1959 and pointed it out to William S. Burroughs, who was to become the most important exponent of CutUp. Power transfers the system from the word to the sound. For this purpose, loops are layered according to the CutUp technique, their speed changed and rearranged. Torn out of their context and edited beyond recognition, they yield themselves again and overhaul to a different whole that follows its own story. In 2018 Power released her debut tape “Lost Lipstick Loops” on the viennese underground label Mont House. Since that she had publications on different netlabels. In 2023 she published her own DIY CutUp adaption of the Vienna Danube Waltz for the opening of Vienna´s first Krandaubel museum as a soundpostcard on Vinylograph.
Power creates energetic CutUp landscapes, spherical tones with her self-made theremin and uses circuit bended found objects like manipulated old tape recorder or fliedrecordings in her compositions where she adds her own voice.
She recently collaborated with Mel E Logan (Chicks On Speed) for a concert at the Vienna Popfest and is currently preparing a solo performance.
In 2024 Brii Bauer made the sounddesign for the film essay “7 drachen und ein hund” (Andrea Seidling) and was head of the sound department on the film project “No Mercy” from Isa Willinger, commissioned by Flair Films (Vienna) & Tondowski Films (Berlin). The official film release will be 2026..
She is currently working as a composer on a film trilogy in collaboration with AKKU TV/ Andrea Seiding.
Her latest project is the event-series “Immer Wieder Sonntags” togehter with the artist Jakob Henneken aka Sinnthese and Natascha Muhic/ Vinylograph/ SSTR6 which started in spring 2025.
In her dj-sets she strictly refuses genres – her selections always capture moods, create vibrations and use a wide spectrum to move the dancefloor.
