Vocal Adventures with Lauren Newton

Drawing on her experience in a wide variety of jazz styles, Lauren Newton works with participants on expanded vocal techniques that extend far beyond melodic singing. The spectrum of the voice is more easily accessed and perceived through free improvisation, and each vocalist thus gains endless possibilities for an individual sound world and fascinating music. Everything is explored: group and individual sound, pure tone, noises, melodies, language, rhythm, pauses, and the unexpected in the musical process.
The unconventional musical working methods improve the participants’ perception and ability to evaluate. Furthermore, music takes on a deeper meaning for them and their listeners. Guided by the musical moment, creativity is unleashed, and we experience the world of the human voice in a whole new way!
